While we are working on increasing our capacity,
we do not expect to have any major changes in the first half of the year.
What is ESS?
ESS stands for Extended Student Services.
We are a childcare program on the Valley Elementary campus that provides care for children in TK - 5th grade after school until 6pm. We also provide childcare during Intersessions and minimum days. During ESS children have the opportunity to do HW, socialize, create, express & have fun.

Cost
ESS is only available on a monthly basis and the fee schedule can be found on the tab to the right. Alternatively the state of California also offers funding for families who qualify. More information below.
Financial Assistance
The State of California has recently passed legislation providing funding for afterschool and summer or intersession enrichment opportunities for students in grades TK-6. In PUSD, access to these opportunities will be provided through our Extended Student Services (ESS) program for students in TK-5. (6th grade students can access the ASES program at the middle school). Enrollment in ESS through this state-funded program depends on the availability of funding, space in the ESS program at your school, and eligibility criteria.
Pathways into ESS (priority)
1. Homeless & foster youth
2. Student eligible for free/reduced meals program
3. Student that attends daily for the full range of program hours
4. Student classified as an English learner
5. Fee Based
There are currently two pathways to access the Valley ESS program. One pathway is tuition-based (regular fee schedule) and the other pathway is state-funded (fees waived) for children that meet either eligibility criteria #1 & #2 referenced above.
