2024/25 ESS Enrollment Information

New Student Enrollment for ESS Summer 2024 ONLY

We anticipate very limited capacity to enroll new students in the ESS Summer Program in 2024. Space in the summer program is subject to the availability of staff, transportation, and priority enrollment for continuing students and unduplicated pupils.

To apply for the 2024 summer program, families must complete a separate interest application by completing this INTEREST FORM. The interest list for SUMMER will be open February 5th- March 1st.

If space is available, ESS will notify parents/guardians whether their child(ren) has been accepted to enroll in the summer program or placed on a waitlist by April 1, 2024.

*Acceptance into ESS Summer 2024 does not guarantee enrollment in the program for the 2024-25 school year.

New Student Enrollment for ESS 2024-25 School Year

New Student Enrollment for Grades TK-5 for the 2024-2025 school year does not automatically enroll students in the Extended Student Services (ESS) before and/or after school program. A separate application process for ESS is required for all new students.

Effective for the 2024-2025 school year, new applications to the ESS program will be centrally managed by the District Office, Before/After School Department through a single application and interest list. Information on how to apply for ESS for the upcoming school year, will be available on the ESS webpage starting on January 19, 2024.

Submitting an application for ESS does not guarantee participation in the program. It is anticipated that the demand for the ESS program will exceed the program capacity at most schools. Should a site be determined near capacity for ESS enrollment, a lottery process may be necessary to determine new student placement in the program.

Students in Grades TK-4 participating in the ESS program during the current 2023-2024 school year, will be considered continuing students and will not need to re-apply. Continuing students will receive continuing registration information directly from the ESS Site Supervisor by January 19, 2024.

Students in Grades TK-4 currently on an ESS waitlist for the program must apply as a new student to the program for the 2024-2025 school year.

What is ESS?

ESS stands for Extended Student Services.
We are a childcare program on the Valley Elementary campus that provides care for children in TK - 5th grade after school until 6pm. We also provide childcare during Intersessions and minimum days. During ESS children have the opportunity to do HW, socialize, create, express & have fun.

Cost

ESS is only available on a monthly basis and the fee schedule can be found on the tab to the right. Alternatively the state of California also offers funding for families who qualify. More information below.

Financial Assistance

The State of California has recently passed legislation providing funding for afterschool and summer or intersession enrichment opportunities for students in grades TK-6. In PUSD, access to these opportunities will be provided through our Extended Student Services (ESS) program for students in TK-5. (6th grade students can access the ASES program at the middle school). Enrollment in ESS through this state-funded program depends on the availability of funding, space in the ESS program at your school, and eligibility criteria. Please visit the District ESS page for more information. www.powayusd.com/ess
